Kris Kristofferson

my first thoughts on his passing

One of my mom's favorite songs was 'For the Good Times’ written by Kris Kristofferson. My dad loved ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ sung by Janis Joplin. One of my first favorite movies was ‘Cisco Pike’ in 1972, which also introduced me to Harry Dean Stanton. I got my parents to take me to see it twice. And then there was his album ‘The Silver Tongue Devil and I’, much of which was featured in the film from what I remember. Lots of other great songs.

Many years later I heard Marianne Faithfull do a song 'El Gavilan (The Hawk)’, which was on the soundtrack to the film ‘Trouble in Mind’. I loved that song and recorded it in 2018 for my Wheelhouse album. Rest in peace Kris Kristofferson. You did a lot of good work....
